Grey Knights- 7th Edition Rules For Grand Master Mordrak

I was disappointed when Grand Master Mordrak was not included in the Grey Knights 7th edition codex.  I converted a pewter Brother Captain Stern model and needless to say it took a bit of work.  Part of my conversion was removing the head.  I want to play Mordrak in 7th and I want some help with adapting Mordrak’s rules.

LotR- The Watcher in the Water WIP June 22

I’ve been really active for three weeks.  I was in two mountain bike races, an off road duathlon, a street hockey tournament and two soccer games.  Needless to say all that activity wore me out and the flu caught me in its snotty clutches.  The good news out of getting sick- I took sick time from work and feverishly painted.  Here are a couple of photos of The Watcher in the Water.

Happy Space Marine weekend!

I prolonged going to bed and picked up my copy of the new Space Marine codex as soon as the store opened.  It was off to bed and then work.  I’ve had a couple of breaks during the shift to read a few pages.  So in the spirit of the excitement of the weekend here are some Assault Centurions.  Say wha?  Who plays Assault Centurions?  This guy.

Space Marine Carcharodons- Red Brethren Terminators

Happy Space Marine day!

I grew a fondness of terminators after playing Dawn of War.  One of the special rules from Tyberos the Red Wake is unlocking a squad of Assault Terminators, called the Red Brethren, as a troops choice.  Yes please!  The only requirement is that all models are equipped with lightning claws.  Here are my completed Red Brethren.

Grey Knights – Interceptors

In anticipation of the new Space Marine codex release this weekend I wanted to showcase some more Carcharodons.  I am having problems uploading some photos so I will draw upon my Grey Knights instead.

I was inspired to do an all Carnifex list and asked Jerrod if he wanted to challenge that list. To no surprise Jerrod said yes. I don’t have enough models for 1850 points so we made the Dimachaeron, Tim the Enchanter, a honourary Carnifex for a day. I had no idea how this list would perform but that wasn’t the point of the list. It was a themed list and it brought a smile to my face when I saw nothing but Carnifex.

LotR – Watcher in the Water- WIP

Here is my second Lord of the Rings project I have to complete by July 9.  The Watcher in the Water will be a Christmas present for my brother in-law.  Right now it is constructed and I have used green stuff to fill all the gaps.  I have glued the model to the base yet to make it easier to paint the underbelly.  I plan on using an Army Painter primer to speed up the process.

LotR – Witch King on Fell Beast WIP

My in-laws are big fans of The Lord Of The Rings.  That’s great news for me because I like painting The Lord Of The Rings models.  I was going to paint up the Witch King on Fell Beast for my father in-law last Christmas.  I was concerned about the mail service and the model staying in one piece so I painted Sauron vs Isildur instead.  I found out a couple of weeks ago that my in-laws will be visiting this summer so the project schedule has been altered.

Jerrod and I had another game involving his Khorne Daemonkin.  This time I dusted of the Tyranids representing my home fleet Hive Fleet Kodiak.  Jerrod requested that I put Tim the Enchanter aka Dimachaeron, a Mawloc and a Trygon.  It was a fun game and Khorne was most certainly pleased.  I enjoy playing Jerrod.  He is a relaxed player to play with.  Video and written (+ photos) reports after the jump.

Grey Knights – Grand Master

After the Nemesis Painting Challenge was complete I was informed that there was potential 40k tournament being organized.  The points limit was set at 2500 points.  Last year I entered the 1850 points tournament with my freshly completed Carcharodons and won best painted.  This year it was time for the Grey Knights to defend my honour.  Nemesis Painting Challenge brought me up to 2000 points so I needed 500 points fast.  Enter the Grand Master.

Mackenzie is new to the hobby and shows a lot of enthusiasm.  It wasn’t too long ago that I was explaining parts of the game to him.  Mackenzie has played a lot of games and it shows.  We’ve played a few games now and it usually ends with one of us schooling the other.  We played this game a couple of weeks ago.  I wanted to get this report up sooner but work and life took over.  My memory will not be as fresh but I will try my best.  I took a lot of aerial shots.  I have pictures of another game with more close up.  Any suggestions on improving my battle reports are appreciated. Leave a squawk in the comments section. Read More…

Grey Knights – Nemesis Banner

Here is the next installment for my Grey Knights.  I present to you the Nemesis Banner.  I have also included a picture of all the Paladins that I have painted to date.  While the Apothecary has not carried his duties on the field of battle the Paladins do have some staying power.  The decorative books behind the heads are fragile.  I ended up pinning all of the pieces to give them longer life.

Space Marines Carcharodons- Librarian

On my Tyberos post Anonymous commented about Sevrin Loth,  The poster was on the fence on whether or not to paint Loth blue or grey.  Here is my Carcharodon Librarian in blue.  The Carcharodons seem like a chapter that is strict to the Codex therefore I went with the blue.  I am really pleased with how it turned out, especially the skin.

Tyranids – Tim the Dimachaeron WIP May 18

Jerrod and I will be playing Tyranids vs Khorne Daemonkin on Friday and he requested that I put Tim the Enchanter in the list.  I won’t go into the nickname here so check out the first Tim the Dimachaeron WIP post.  Jerrod’s request motivated me to start painting the beast.  On a side note I looked in my bits box for curved horns but alas I have none.  The Balrog horns would be ace as they have the Tim the Enchanter ala Monty Python and the Holy Grail look.  All of the base colours and inks are on.  The next step is the highlights.  I started Tyranids in third edition so I used inks back then.  I sure do miss the inks, especially now that mine are almost out.

Jerrod and I played a 1850 points game last week.  The game was a blast.  There were some phenomenal dice rolls and a clinch squad that won the game.  I wasn’t happy with my narration for the game but in the end I decided to publish it anyways.  A good way to improve is make mistakes and learn from them.  Watching other battle reports is another way to improve as well.  For future reports I will try think of what I want to say, take a deep breath and not rush through the report.  If you have any constructive criticism please let me know.

Fortifications – Plasma Obliterator WIP

Hands up if you were one of the few that was successful in obtaining a Plasma Obliterator.  I missed out on the pre-orders, however, I was at GW West Edmonton when they opened and was able to snag a box.  For those of you who missed out you avoided the grief of gluing together, in my opinion, the worst GW model to assemble.
