LotR – Witch King on Fell Beast WIP

My in-laws are big fans of The Lord Of The Rings.  That’s great news for me because I like painting The Lord Of The Rings models.  I was going to paint up the Witch King on Fell Beast for my father in-law last Christmas.  I was concerned about the mail service and the model staying in one piece so I painted Sauron vs Isildur instead.  I found out a couple of weeks ago that my in-laws will be visiting this summer so the project schedule has been altered.

My father in-law’s favourite character from the series is Theoden.  Mounted Theoden was the first model I painted for him.  The Witch King on Fell Beast is a great model to place alongside mounted Theoden.  I chose a dark blue for the Witch Kings robes for contrast purposes from the Fell Beast.  All my bases colours are down with the exception of the fallen riders skin and hair.  I am not sold on the colours I used for the riders so a change may be coming.

I apologize for the these next pictures.  The lighting is not the best.

My deadline for this model is July 9.  My night shifts are coming up in a week and that is when I get most of my painting done.  I also have the Watcher in the Water for my brother in-law.

  1. Good call, leave it to them to figure out how to get it home 😉
