Cardboard Car

The week has been great to begin my project of building a cardboard car.  In case you have forgotten I have a hypothesis that I want to test.  The sheep around here are scared of humans and run away if us homo sapiens get too close.  The sheep, however, seem to be fearless of cars and take there time to cross roads.  I wanted to build a car out of cardboard to see if I could get close enough to touch a sheep.  The abundance of rain we have had this week provided the opportunity to begin the project.

The New Fashion (Viewer Advisory Warning)

If you thought the pictures of the Stink Sink were disgusting I have found some pictures that are simply nauseating.  Go ahead and read on, I dare you (I know Terri wants to).  Gwa ha ha ha….

Random Musings at the Roost

Last week begins with a sad story.  Peter is a lamb that lived here at Camas.  His stupidity has made him a popular little fellow; a lamb that we have all grown to love.  Peter has been caught on camera and for those of you who have not seen Good Form Peter please click here for an introduction.  All of the lambs were separated from their mothers last week and the males will be going to the market while the females will be kept in a separate field away from the moms.  I am hoping that Peter is of the female persuasion.  Since I am the one who named Peter he has a special place in my heart and his legend will live on thanks to the world wide web.

The Moustache Letters- The Return of the Moustache

Hello Mark,

I have returned from my vacation.  I appreciate your loyalty to our friendship.  Nostrils filled me in about Mac Moustache filling in an application form to be your new pen pal.  I do not mind if you converse with Mac Moustache.  I am a jealous moustache and have concerns of our friendship losing its value if you start to spend more time with Mac.  I have talked with Nostrils and they will not panic next time I go on vacation.

Chimney Sweep Detectives CD Release and Interview

The privilege of being the official journalist and photographer of a band is the chance to go behind the scenes and see the real men behind the brush.  The Chimney Sweep Detectives held their CD launch party on the front lawn of Iona Abbey. Fans were waiting in gleeful anticipation for the Detectives to take the stage.  The Detectives did not disappoint with their sharp lyrics and passion to entertain and when the dust settled they took the time to sit down for an interview.

Iona

We had a lovely time at Iona on Friday.  I arrived late, unfortunately, to the Sunday evening service at Iona Abbey.  The theme of the service, I believe, was taking joy in the simpler things in life and not taking oneself serious.  I felt at home at that service.  Hmm, I wonder why that is.

Chimney Sweep Detectives Album Review

I am branching out and going into the freelance world of the writer.  Not only am I a Camas volunteer but now I am the official journalist and photographer for the Chimney Sweep Detectives.  I am known for my unbiased approach to journalism and that is what the Chimney Sweep Detectives (CSD) want in a journalist- one that does not beat around the bush and gets straight to the point.  So let me get straight to the point.

Good Form Peter!

In case you missed a past posting I recommended going to Turkavision to see a video I uploaded six days ago.  It is called Good Form Peter! Do Sheep Swim?  Go and have  view and tell all your friends.  It’s a classy film.

Take Off Eh!

Canada Awareness Week was a success.  We said our farewells to our group from Ireland on Friday morning.  We had a fabulous time.  Thanks to the Canada facts book from my in-laws, The Shraptors, we bombarded the group with many facts about Canada.  Some of the campers joined in with the fun and replied with Canada facts of their own.  One of the special things for me was the innocence that this particular group brought with them.

Turkadactyl Sad

Hello all,

I will be adding some new posts in the upcoming  days.  It is late now and it is time for bed.  I wanted to make a sad announcement first.  I will no longer be posting Camas Contests here at the Roost.  What I thought were some fun things for us to participate in has received very little love and fan fare among those who frequent this lovely blog.  Unless there is a sudden uproar and people beg me to keep doing contests I will reconsider my decision.  Some happy news now.  With our phone card Sundays in September are call Canada for free day.  If you want a phone call let us know.  Of course our immediate family will be first in line.  Smell you later.

Canada Awareness Week

We have a new theme this week- Canada Awareness Week. Mrs. Turkadactyl’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Shraptor (the shraptor is a cross between a sheep and a velociraptor) sent us a package containing many Canadian goodies. One of the treats is a book with facts and quizzes about Canada. The kids are thrilled every time we tell them a Canadian fact at meal time. This weeks group is from Dublin containing 13 girls and 3 boys. Good deal for the boys.

The Moustache Letters- A New Friend

Hello Mark,

Moustache sends his regards. He has left on vacation and asked us to write a letter to you. Moustache was getting tired of taste buds complaining about the onions that Alexander has been eating lately. You see, these Camas folks like to put onions in lots of their meals. Thank you for the fruit basket. Your support really means a lot to us. Our hairs are coming along nicely. In fact some of them have grown faster then we expected. They are getting quite bold and starting to take a peek to see what is outside.

Grey Hairs Are The Sign Of Wisdom

I am big fan of the Book of Proverbs, which is in the Holy Bible. One of the proverbs talks about wisdom and grey hair. I think that is because the person with grey hair has been around long enough to make plenty of mistakes and has learned from some of those mistakes. David, a leader mentioned in another post, is a man of wisdom.

The Camas Tour Is Now Broadcasting

I have put together a Camas Tour playlist on Turkavision. If you are curious to see some short videos of where we live click on Turkavision to the right. There are plenty of other videos to watch- some that seemed funny at the time and others that have a genuine humour value to them.  Question For a Sheep is closing in a couple of days. It seems that my contests do not rate at the same level of excitement for those who read the Roost….Back to work now.

Uptown Girl Meets Kitchen Disco

We have a small group from London this week. Six of the campers are teens, six are adults. One guy, I discovered, likes to sing as we do dishes. (We call dish washing time here at camas a ‘kitchen disco’ as there is mush singing and attempted dancing.) We’ve been singing Uptown Girl and driving everyone crazy…except us. We did a lot of ‘da da da da’ as we didn’t remember all of the words, but the problem was solved when we posted them above the sink. I don’t think it helped in our popularity though, with the rest of the group.

The Good Guys Always Win, Even In The 80’s

Another week has ended I had a lot of fun. My army of origami dinosaurs doubled in size. I know have a T-rex to join my pterodactyl. The campers had a good time with the 80’s awareness week. I taught them about the wisdom of Ace Hunter from Megaforce, and I hope they tell all their friends back home.

Question For A Sheep

Here is the next contest. I am patiently awaiting drawings of turkadactyl’s to arrive in mail. I am crossing my fingers that someone has sent me something because the first contest did not receive too much participation. For those who have been to Turkavision recently you may have seen a new video called Interview With A Sheep.

Strange Animal

I should be in bed now. It is ten past midnight and I have been tired since the afternoon. I am silly because I am uploading some more videos onto Turkavision. This is the last night with Lichfield. I had the pleasure of hanging out with some dinosaur fans this week. We drew dinosaurs in arts and crafts. We also drew some strange animals.

It’s Hip To Be Square

I have never met a group of teenagers that have been as well behaved as this group. It is very eerie. Now before any of the teens that know me back home get defensive and say, “Hey, what about us?” let me give some examples. Last night I cooked dinner. When I popped my head through the kitchen opening one would go shhh and the rest would go quiet. As soon as sharing times start not a single one will speak unless it is their turn. They ask each other if they can help out with chores. They do not complain about doing chores. They go to bed when told to and only need to be told once. They are from Lichfield, which is in Birmingham. I know Birmingham is on earth, but I am uncertain if this Lichfield is.

The Moustache Letters- PhD in Moustache

Hello Mark,

Did you forget to make your dust bunny payment to the Paydro gang again? Please do not forget again. I here they make people eat their own boogers if they forget to make a dust bunny payment. I am glad you are able to solve the soup crisis back home. I fear the soup I sent via ocean will come too little too late. It seems that the crabs here have control over the local shipping lanes and there is a soup embargo going on at the moment.
