The Minotaurs are closing in on the Lamenters at Optera. The Lamenters have suffered massive casualties and have retreated planetside to preserve what little remains of their chapter. The Minotaurs are not known to take it easy and pursue with zeal. The Lamenters have been surrounded and they only have one means to survive- go through the Lamenters.

Sylvaneth- Tree Revenants WIP
#Squaduary is live. Rory at Stepping Between Games started a painting challenge for the month of February. Assemble, paint and base a squad within the month. I pledged to do five Sylvaneth Tree Revenants and three Kurnoth Hunters with bows. It’s not to late to join the challenge. In fact I encourage you to wander over to Rory’s stomping grounds and drop him a message. Now onto the first of my two pledges. I’m ahead of the #Squaduary schedule and well into the painting.

Sylvaneth- Kurnoth Hunters with Greatswords
My Kurnoth Hunters with great swords are now complete. I’ve played a few Path to Glory campaign games with these models and they hit like a brick wall. They are super durable as well (well, not so against Ironjaws). I played a Sylvaneth versus Sylvaneth game and my Treelord engaged a single Kurnoth Hunter in combat. Well, I came out on top only because I had seven more wounds and cast regrowth to heal lost wounds. These models are fun to play with and are gorgeous to paint.

Tyranids- Tyrannofex
Well, it’s time we scuttle along to the next big Tyranid beastie. Today I will be showcasing one of my favourite models to play- the Tyrannofex. What’s not to like about it? Six wounds, two plus armour and a torrent firing heavy flamer. It’s the last part the has my attention. For years my friend terrorized me with his Astra Militarum Hellhounds. He was cooking up for a BBQ and Tyranids were on the menu. Now I have my own version to set loose on the field.

Badab War YEG Battle Report #4- Star Phantoms vs Astral Claws
This battle report will be a quick one. This game happened while I was on my course and I was unable to watch the events unfold. Jerrod and Andrew took some pictures but they were enraptured with the game that neither wrote notes down. It was a close game that came down to the wire. Who will win this 1250 point round of loyalist versus secessionist?

Sylvaneth- Kurnoth Hunters with Greatswords WIP
Edmonton recently enjoyed some above zero weather so I took full advantage of it and primed some models. First up on the painting table is Kurnoth Hunters with great swords. These are fantastic models with lots of detail. It’s no wonder they made it to front of the line.

Tyranids- Scratch Built Trygon
Inspired by the Canadian wilderness I have name my Tyranids Hive Fleet Kodiak. Over the last couple of years I have introduced you to two of my organisms from my Tyranids- Time the Dimachaeron and the Spawn of Cryptus. Hive Fleet Kodiak has also made appearances in battle reports. For 2017 I plan on showcasing my Tyranids throughout the year. This army is easily my largest and will stay that way so it will take me a while to progress through the army. I wanted to start the year with a model that holds a special place in my hobby filled heart- my scratch built Trygon.

Badab War YEG- Battle Report #3 Cleansing of Outpost RV381
Hello all,
Badab War YEG is slowly moving along. There is one more game left for phase two and then we move onto Phase 3. This report is the first of three games being played for Phase 2. Today’s installment will feature a 1250 point game between Michael Minotaurs and Dave’s Executioners. This is my first time organizing a campaign so I am adding in some extras to the games to see what the group thinks. Let’s move onto the battle report.

Sylvaneth- Darkroot Wargrove
November and December were a blur for me so I didn’t get much gaming in. I march on over to GW West Edmonton with plans to purchase the Sylvaneth Darkroot Wargrove battleforce. They didn’t have it and I found out it was a limited run. D’oh! Nuts to being extremely busy. I was not going down without a fight. I did some hunting and Thunderground Comics in St. Albert had one box left.

Codex: Imperial Agents Review
Codex: Imperial Agents has had a bit of a controversial release. It initially brought a lot of praise with the return of the Sisters of Battle to print. The criticisms were quick when it was discovered that the beloved Saint Celestine pulled a disappearing act and could not be found. There are a lot of opinions about this publication and I want to put my two cents worth in.

Space Marines Carcharodons- Caestus Assault Ram WIP
Christmas is now done and that means my six week training course is now complete. The last six weeks have been a whirlwind and I am glad it is all over. My course ended on December 23. December flew by for me and I am glad to be back in my regular schedule. This means more painting and assembling. I haven’t had too much time to read other blogs I follow so I feel disconnected right now. I was able to squeeze a little bit of time paint the base colours of the Caestus Assault Ram. This vehicle has been sitting on my shelf primed and ready to paint for a few months now.

Carcharodons: Red Tithe by Robbie MacNiven
A while back Black Library author Robbie MacNiven contacted me and gave me a heads up that he was writing a book about the Carcharodons. Well naturally this piqued my attention and I have been following his blog ever since. Robbie has just announced that his book Carcharodons: Red Tithe is now on pre-order and you can read the first chapter for free. I will be picking this book up for sure.
An update on Badab War YEG. I am waiting to get the pictures and and battle reports from a couple of games. Once I get those I will be sure to post them. I have two weeks lefts in my training course. It’s time extensive so it has limited my posting. Look for more content after Christmas. Thanks for your patience.

Badab War YEG- Battle Report #2 Resupply the Front Lines
This weeks installment has Jerrod and his Salamanders pitted against David B. representing the Astral Claws. This mission was inspired by a Wargasm Age of Sigmar game I played last month. There is a convoy that will be going through the middle of the board. The Astral Claws need the convoy to resupply their front lines. The Salamanders want to capture it to slow the defense of the Secessionists. Who will be the victor? Who will fail?

Badab War YEG- Battle Report #1 Betrayal at Grief
Badab War YEG is now a go! After several months for participants to paint an army we have finally started the campaign. The start of the campaign was determined as to what chapters were represented. At one point I had 13 participants. As time progressed more dropped out to where we stand with seven now. Unfortunately Sean had to withdraw due to him and his family moving to another city. Nik also had to drop out and that meant the primary protagonist and antagonist were now removed from the campaign. Jerrod had some extra models and painted them up as Astral Claws. It didn’t seem right to play the Badab War campaign without the Betrayal at Grief special mission. With some imagination the Carcharodons filled in for the Red Scorpions. Here is the battle report.

Sylvaneth – Spirit of Durthu
The Spirit of Durthu is the finally model from the Forest Spirit Warhost boxset. The box included one Branchwraith, thirty-two Dryads and three Treelord. I chose to build one of each of the Treelord, the Treelord Ancient and a Spirit of Durthu. I plan on only building one Durthu model so I chose to run with a grey bark to balance out the future purchase of Drycha (who I plan on painting brown).
Wargasm Age of Sigmar
Last weekend I attended Wargasm in Calgary. Sunday was the Apocalypse event. Saturday was host to Age of Sigmar. Every player brought with them up to 400 points consisting of a leader and a battleline option. My leader was a Branchwraith and 20 Dryads. As the day progressed your leader gained loot that enhanced the experience gained throughout the day. Apocalypse was the motivation to attend this event. I left with Age of Sigmar being the more enjoyable event of the two.

Wargasm Apocalypse Part II
Here is my second photo dump of the Wargasm Apocalypse match. In total 117,500 points was registered for the day. We played five rounds for the day before calling the game. We were scheduled to play six, however, we started a bit late and we had to trim one round off. The game saw close to an even split of Imperium vs Enemies of the Imperium. The game was close throughout but in the end the Enemies of the Imperium squeeked out a 52-49 victory. Here are pictures of rounds two to five.

Wargasm Apocalypse
The weekend is complete and so is the Wargasm Apocalypse event- Fauxpacalypse. The event had 27 people registered with 26 showing up. There was a total of 117,500 points on the table and the big guns came out to play. The day saw two Revenant Titans, a Warhound and large number of Imperial Knights. If you need something to preoccupy your time while awaiting the results of the American Presidential election.

Age of Sigmar- Sylvaneth Wyldwood
I was intending to publish the Spirit of Durthu today, however, my Sylvaneth are on display and I forgot to take pictures of the model prior. Durthu kind of kind lost in the shuffle when I was rotating models through the light box. I will be picking my Sylvaneth up on Thursday for Wargasm so I will take some pictures this week. Instead I will showcase the Sylvaneth Wyldwood I painted up for Armies on Parade.

Sylvaneth- Branchwraith
Welcome back to the work week. Monday is beginning for some of us and ending for others. I’d like to introduce you to Bobbi the Branchwraith. If you’re curious as to how I came about calling this Branchwraith I will tell you.
