The weekend is complete and so is the Wargasm Apocalypse event- Fauxpacalypse. The event had 27 people registered with 26 showing up. There was a total of 117,500 points on the table and the big guns came out to play. The day saw two Revenant Titans, a Warhound and large number of Imperial Knights. If you need something to preoccupy your time while awaiting the results of the American Presidential election.
I participated with 4000 points of Tyranids. I haven’t played Apocalypse for at least eight years so I was happy to play with a big of of bugs. I used the Barbed Hierodule and Tim the Dimachaeron. I knew Tim was going to draw attention and within two minutes of the game starting Tim was vanquished. I used a few Apocalypse formations like the Endless Swarm (many many gants), Living Fortress (Hive Tyrants and Tyrant Guard), Shadow Incarnate (Hive Tyrant and Zoanthropes) and Carnifex Crusher (Screamer Killer Carnifexes that shoot a hellstorm template).
I chose Tyranids because I expected half the players to be Space Marines and that was almost the case. There were a couple of Guard players to round out the Imperium side. For me Tyranids are the ultimate Apocalypse army. There is something theatrical to see all the little and big bug working together. I haven’t played with my Barbed Hierodule for who knows how long. I have all these models and wanted to enjoy the formations and Gants being removed by the fistful.
The game was Imperium vs Enemies of the Imperium. The final points value ended up having a 1000 point difference. One Imprium player did not show so that allowed the Imperium to roll out a couple of super heavies before the allotted time.
The rule for super heavies is they could shoot one gun on turn two and come onto the board turn three. Each 4×6 table had an objective in the middle and victory points were scored if your side held the objective at the end of your turn. Destroying super heavies and gargantuan creatures also scored super heavies. The table was shaped like a C. I was located at the top of the C. The players that brought lots of super heavies were heavily concentrated in the middle of the long section.
I didn’t keep track of what happened. Players kept a lot of there forces in reserve at the start to take advantage of deep striking (and not being wiped out too soon). I took lots of photos and will let those tell the story of the day.
These photos are the set up and turn one. My next post will be turns two through five. Thanks for reading.
Cheersfor sharing. Lots of great pictures in there.
