Space Marine 30th Anniversary Celebration

GW West Edmonton had a celebration when the 30th Anniversary Space Marine model was released not too long ago.  One of the events was a painting contest.  Unfortunately I was on nights so I missed all of the models on display.  The good news is there were more entries at this events compared to last.  Good to see the community coming out and supporting the store.  There were two categories- single model and vehicle from the Space Marines and Chaos Space Marines.  Here are some of the photos from GW West Edmonton’s Facebook page.  All photos used with permission.

Sharknado was my single model entry.

And the winner is…

Here are the vehicle entries.

And Trogdor the Burninator takes home the gold!

The store had six framed pictures and I chose the Adeptas Sororitas as a prize.  I think it will fit well in a gaming area.

Thanks to everyone who participated.

For a completely different note this week has been a great week.  I spent my nights off preparing for an interview for a promotion.  I had the interview Monday morning.  About one hour after I posted the Terminator Chaplain WIP I found out I got the promotion.  I’ll be switching crews in a couple of weeks.  I’ve been with my current crew for four and a half years.  We all do shift work so my new crews days will fall on my old crews scheduled shifts so I will see them in passing twice month.  It’s a little bittersweet because I enjoyed my team but the call of the promotion was strong.

  1. Congratulations! He’s one stellar dread! And great poster. One of my fav covers, too bad GW hates the sisters otherwise!

  2. Yeah, I hardly play them now. The current codex is uninspiring.

  3. Congrats on the promotion, and you made a great choice in prize! Great work

    • I liked the prizes. There were six framed pictures. It was a nice change from the daemon model mounted on a pillar trophy. Thumbs up to GW for the change.

      • Definitely, I’d happily take a framed picture any day! Awesome

  4. Congrats, well done. Lovely Dreadnought and framed pic. Love the UM Assault Serg entry too. Well done everyone who entered.

    • The UM is by Devon. His painting has improved a lot over the past few months. I appreciate seeing the progress of painter’s skills. It nice to see the practice pay off. I believe he took second and well deserved.
