If I haven’t exercised I put some Adeptas Sororitas models in the case and do some squats. That’s putting the models to some good use until they get a new codex.
Battle Sister squads can range from five to twenty models. I haven’t played with a twenty strong squad for years. They were assaulted by Blood Angels and I lost a couple of models. I failed the leadership and was subsequently swept advanced. That was a tough pill to swallow. That was back in the good all days with the five point Book of St. Lucius that granted stubborn. That was the best piece of wargear in the game at the time and its removal from the codex was fully expected.
For the basic troops choice I chose to paint the casing on the boltguns and the trim on the backpacks blue. The backpack cable casings behind the head for this squad are painted white. That is my way to differentiate between the Battle Sister squads. It is a visual reference for myself and opponent to pick out the squads. The differences are subtle enough that the army has a uniform look to it still. I have some options to choose from for special weapons and Veteran Sister Superior load outs.
I focused on my Adepta Sororitas about three to four years ago. They needed an update compared to when I painted them twelve years ago. I felt that my painting had improved and I wanted to revisit the army. The original blue I chose was Midnight Blue and I wanted to go with a lighter shade as a base. Regal Blue was the new choice with the highlights working up to Enchanted Blue. I applied three layers of Burnished Gold for a brighter armour. The blue shade and highlighting with a mixture of Burnished Gold and Mithril Silver then cooled the gold down.
The gold and blue provide a striking contrast on the board. The white and red compliment the ensemble. The power armour is ornate and I think the gold suits it well.
This was my painting standard when I first started.
