Last week I sent out a vox transmission for Carcharodons Battle Brothers to emerge from the void. Randy answered that call.

The Carcharodons is Randy’s first army and now that he has a bit more painting experience he is going back and re-painting the army. He’s taking his time on the project and I look forward to seeing his progress. The more I look at the photos the more I am enjoying this army. The models are looking fantastic and they are not even finished yet! It’s good to see a lot of MkV Heresy Armour in the collection. Randy, may your Carcharodons administer the justice of the Imperium with rage and fury.
Here are pictures and some of the correspondence I had with Randy:
While regrettably my force is quite small and is still very much a work in progress, I did attempt to take some current photos for you. However, I do not have any actual movable table lamps at my house to use as a horizontal light source and was thus unable to take acceptable, non-flash photos. I did, however, manage to scrounge up some old images that I’m attaching to this email.

Right now, I’m in the process of finishing my basic core of 30 Tactical Marines. I’m on the last 5, and afterwards I’ll need to add some dead grass tufts and a bit of blood splatter to finish the models. Afterwards, I need to purchase the new Leviathan Dreadnought before Forge World’s molds get too worn out, as well as perhaps a third (yes, third) model of Tyberos. Unfortunately I am currently not in possession of any Terminators, as Lord Tyberos is out of commission waiting to be re-primed and painted and I will have to purchase some combination of Terminators to model the Red Brethren. I also have the limited Forge World web-exclusive Centurion waiting in its package to represent the Carcharodons Captain from the short story “Judges, In Their Hunger”.

I’m a glacially slow painter having taken nearly 2 years just to paint 2 HQs, 25 Marines, and 5 Terminators, some of which have since been stripped or dismantled to be rebuilt up to specs. Hopefully within the next few months I’ll have a small force finished and some proper photos to share with you. I also need to post them to my blog, which is basically empty at the moment, but I’ll be sure to drop you a line when I have some entries that are actually worth viewing.

The reason my army is so scrap bare at the moment is because I just recently made a massive change to my army. I wanted to use a duller, more brassy bronze for the Carcharodon’s metal trim rather than the extremely yellow Auric Armor Gold I had previously used, as can be seen in the photos. I was also unhappy with the quality of the Terminator paint job and some of the Tactical Marines, so those have been decommissioned and need to be rebuilt with a better selection of bits and a better paint job. This is my main, and actually very first army. I learned to paint miniatures on a box of plastic Tactical Marines done up as 2nd Company Ultramarines, and then dove straight into Forge World resin, which is why I am now having to fix the army up a little bit, having learned some tricks of the trade. It was quite the expensive and shaky learning experience, but I enjoyed it immensely.

Thanks Randy! If you are collecting, thinking of collecting or know someone who has a Carcharodons army then drop me a line at turkadactyl@yahoo.ca. I want to hear from you!
Enjoy. I’m going to have to check out that short story that Randy mentioned.
