Do you play the Carcharodons Chapter of the Space Marines? Then I want to hear from you.
I enjoy looking at the work of other hobbyists. There are a lot of inspiring painters that are constantly motivating me to improve my own skill set.
Forgeworld’s Badab War inspired me to collect a Space Marine army. For a long time I flirted with the idea of starting a successor chapter for the Black Templars. Then the Badab War came out and I was hooked with the Minotaurs and the Carcharodons. I liked the background, livery and colours for both. The Tyberos and Moloc are fantastic sculpts. I knew then if I was to start a Space Marine army it would be one of those two.
I started looking at pictures online for more inspiration. One site I visited frequently was The Painting Bunker. I recommend checking the site out. Another website, The Badab Project, listed numerous webpages dedicated to the chapters of The Badab War. What a great place to visit to kill some time at work.
I was ready to pull the trigger to make purchases with Forgeworld. I wasn’t too sure at the time if Forgeworld was going to release any Minotaur specific sets. With the Carcharodons I could buy a bit of everything and that was awesome. I also started to gravitate towards the mystery of the origins of the chapter. I also tend to gravitate to the noble character. The Carcharodons are the anti-hero hero. They come in, do what others are not willing to do, and disappear.
Painting grey has also been a nice change. My Adeptas Sororitas and Grey Knights are gold. Going with a bronze army like the Minotaurs would feel similar to those cruising in gold. So yeah, Carcharodons it was then.
I have enjoyed collecting, painting and playing this army and want to continue to be inspired by other Carcharodons players lurking in the shadows. Sadly, The Badab Project does not seem to be available anymore. I’d like to bring the Carcharodons together who are lurking out in the void.
So if you are a proud owner of Carcharodons drop me an e-mail at turkadactyl@yahoo.ca. I can post a link up in the blogroll. If you don’t have a blog and don’t want to start one I don’t mind showcasing your army. Send me some pictures. I’d love to see what you have.
