In August I posted a review on the Games and Gears Hawk Urban battle board. If you are interested in the review click here. Games Workshop’s Armies on Parade is in October and I want to have a 2×2 section ready for the event. Here’s what is done so far.
There was some controversy with these boards. When I participated in the kickstarter I was under the impression they would be fully painted. The only part that was painted were the roads. So it is time to get to work.
I started with painters tape on the roads. I then primed the boards black. This is to make sure that I get all the grooves in the bricks. The next step was using Army Painter Uniform Grey primer. It was a bit thinner on some parts, allowing the black to show a little.
When all of the grey was complete I covered those sections with painters tape. I then used Army Painter Leather Brown primer for the bricks. The one 2×2 tile has an “open” area surrounded by brick. I plan on painting that green.
These should get painted fairly quick. I plan on using Nuln Oil and then dry brushing. I just need one tile to be complete for October 24. The Shrine of Aquila will also be used for the display along with my Grey Knights. Any preference for the tile I use?
Awesome! Looking forward to the later stages! The early ones already look good! No idea on which tile to use, experiment with them!
