The Roost of Turkadactyl

40K is a game played with toy soldiers.  Some people take the hobby too serious.  Sometimes we need a reminder that it is just a game and to not take it too serious.  Enter my Chapter Banner for the Space Marines Carcharodons chapter inspired by the craptacular movie Sharknado.

I am a big fan of bad movies and Sharknado is a great laugh.  If you want a good laugh and have low expectations then check it out.  When I saw the movie I was instantly knew what I would paint for my Chapter Banner.  The model is from the Forgeworld MkIV Command set.

First I drew the picture on a piece of paper.  Once I was comfortable with my drawing I drew the picture to scale on another piece paper.  I painted the base beige colour with highlights on the model.  I then used pencil to draw the sharks and tornado on the model.  With the outline in place I painted over the lines.  I am quite pleased with the end result.  Freehand has been something I have avoided for a long time so it was a good confidence builder to paint this model.

Enjoy.  This model gets some good laughs at my local.  One player suggested I paint Three Shark Moon for another banner.  One day I will.  For a visual search Three Wolf Moon for the epic mountain t-shirt (a shirt I proudly own).
