We are now at my grandparents. Yesterday was a bittersweet day. It is good to see my grandparents but it was sad to say farewell to people who I lived with for the previous fourteen weeks. Dot, Tim, Amy and Emily said farewell to all the volunteers. The six of us then boarded a train from Oban and said our farewells to each other at Glasgow. The fellowship was broken. The train ride was tough. For fourteen weeks I have been breathing in clean air, have had the freedom to roam, and have not been exposed to massive amounts of flourescent lighting. The six of us, Josef, Sarah, Andrea, Kate, Mrs. Turkdactyl and I all felt sick on the train ride. None were to pleased with the musky air quality. We have been spoiled drinking in the frsh air of Camas.
This morning was a bit of a culture shock. My grandparents took drove us to a pub so we could get some meat into our bellies. We were waiting to make a turn in the road and the amount of cars passing my was overwhelming. I was not used to looking both ways. A result of being accustomed to a one lane road. The nice part about being this far south in the UK is the weather. The weather is warmer right now.
I am looking forward to some more home cooking when I get home. Yesterday I purchased a wrap to hold me over on the train. I looked at the ingredients and some of them were numbers. I felt safer eating the tortilla shells that I made at Camas. I didn’t require scary preservative numbers in my list of ingerdients. I think Mrs. T and I will be buying some more recipe books when we get home.
For all those back home in Edmonton wish to Oilers good luck for me. It seems they need a bit of that now. Keep fit and have fun.
