Our first day has begun. We experienced our first night at Camas and it was without any lights. We rely on lanterns and candles to be able to see during the evening. We will have fourteen weeks of this. What a great way to save on electric bills. We have no group coming to Camas this week. It is a time for us new volunteers to become accustomed to the camp as well as to the various tasks we will be responsible for.
I was thrown into the fire immediately. I do not have much interest in cooking. I was signed on to do breakfast this morning. That meant waking up before the others and preparing scones and porridge for the group. I received some help from a chap named Adam. Each staff here will be responsible for preparing meals and when it is there turn they are on there own. Mrs. Turkadactyl and I will have an opportunity to cook for 40 people soon. We use fruits and vegetables grown straight from the garden.
There will soon be a sense of pride when cooking and using the fruits and vegetables. We are all responsible for tending to the garden. I thinned out the grapes and Michelle dug a new section up so that we may plant more goodies soon.
We also took a tour to the beach and had a bit of fun. There are some great climbing and jumping places. Apparently the queen used to come visit, and quite frequently, the beach we chilled at for a bit.
I am Poopsmith. We took a trip to Farmer Don’s field and shoveled manure into our wheelbarrows. the manure is ued for our garden. It is a mile and a half walk (distance is in miles here) to the poop pile. I told the Camas group about Homestar Runner and the Poopsmith. I enjoyed myself. It was poop, how could I not? Shovel in hand I dug and I dug poop. I ended up with poop on my hand. Very dignified for a Poopsmith. We’ll see if the poopsmith moniker works its’ way into our everyday language.
Joey and Tyson you’ll both be glad to know that ‘Lock It Up’ and the ‘Ace Hunter/Zangief’ greets have been introduced. I will try my best to make sure they are a staple here.
I will end with that. Talk to you soon.
