Christmas is now done and that means my six week training course is now complete. The last six weeks have been a whirlwind and I am glad it is all over. My course ended on December 23. December flew by for me and I am glad to be back in my regular schedule. This means more painting and assembling. I haven’t had too much time to read other blogs I follow so I feel disconnected right now. I was able to squeeze a little bit of time paint the base colours of the Caestus Assault Ram. This vehicle has been sitting on my shelf primed and ready to paint for a few months now.
I took a while to decide where I wanted to paint. I didn’t want the Ram to look like a big grey brick nor did I want too much black and gold to take away from the grey. I think I achieved the right balance in the end. I used Retributor Armour for the gold. This will be my base layer. I plan on applying a couple layers of Burnished Gold to brighten it up.
The next step will be applying the varnish with a brush. This will protect the base layer from getting rubbed off. Then I will apply another base layer and highlights. I have a lot more work to do on this model. Hopefully, fingers crossed, this will be complete by the end of 2017. It is good to have some colour on the model now.
It sure does feel good to post about the Carcharodons again.
My next post I plan on doing a review on Codex: Imperial Agents. I feel like it’s a little late since it has been out for a couple for weeks but hey, it’s the interwebs I might as well publish my two cents worth. I’m waiting for pictures from Michael and Jerrod from their badab War games. Once I get those I will post the battle reports and progress Badab War YEG.
How was your Christmas? My wife finally broke after all these years and finally did some Christmas shopping at Games Workshop. She’s a fan of my Sylvaneth army and bought the model that inspired me to collect the army. 2017 is going to be a good hobby year.
I’m looking forward to seeing the progress on that flying brick 🙂

It weighs the same amount as a brick as well.

That’s two great gifts right there. I can’t wait to see what you can do with Alarielle. I expect amazing stuff.
The Cestus is a great model. Your off to a brilliant start. Really smooth layers on those flat panels.

I’m not quite sure when I will be tackling Alarielle. I’ll probably paint her slowly over the next few months. I want to do it justice. My birthday is coming up so I plan on treating myself to the Sylvaneth bundle that was just released. I plan on painting the Kurnoth Hunters first.
I’m a big fan of the Caestus. I think it fits the Carcharodons style of play to a T. I’ve had this model for a couple of years so it’s about time I am making some progress on it.

I would be terrified at the prospect of tackling a model like Alarielle. Too much opportunity to mess up.

Judging by your past work I think you’ll do the model justice.

Thanks. I did a lot of google image searching to help me decide on what would suit the Carcharodons.
