Necrons- Trazyn the Infinite WIP

I don’t have a Necron army but I needed a model of Trazyn the Infinite for my Inner Circle display.  There’s bonus points awarded to a themed Inner Circle display and I wanted to use the Triumvirate of the Imperium (Belisarius Cawl, Saint Celestine, Inquisitor Greyfax).  I wanted to use the scene where Trazyn releases the captives heroes from his pokeball.  I had all the models I needed; except one, Trazyn.

Trazyn WIP 1

I searched all the stores in Edmonton and could not find Trazyn.  GW website also listed Trazyn as out of stock.  Since the model is finecast I wasn’t expecting it to be stocked anytime soon.  I had to resort to some other online options.  I was eventually able to secure a new in box kit.

Trazyn WIP 2

The staff was grossly warped.  I heated it up twice in warm water to bend it and snapped the top on the second attempt.  It looked better, not great, and decided to cut my losses.  I pinned the top back on and assembled my little pokemaster.

Trazyn WIP 3

I primed the model black and sprayed Leadbelcher.  Then I wash Trazyn with Nuln Oil and drybrushed with Necron Compound.  I followed the studio version of the model and wasn’t satisfied.  I didn’t like the black cape and the inside of the cape was metal and there was no cut-off from Trazyn’s body.

Trazyn GW

Trazyn has some Astral Claws colours going on.  I’m a big fan of that particular colour scheme so I took it as an opportunity to give it a go without starting a new army.

After some experimenting a tried a gold cape and white cape.  I may go with a blue cape instead to match the shoulder pauldrons.  What do you think?

Here’s a list of colours used so far:

  • Gold- Retributor Gold, Burnished Gold, Agrax Earthshade, Burnished Gold highlight, Mithril Silver highlight
  • Blue- Army Painter blue, GW Drakenhof Nightshade
  • Green- Caliban Green, Coelia Greenshade
  • Inner Robe- Celestra Grey, Gulliman Blue wash

I had some spare 32mm bases so I did an exchange.

Stay tuned for the completed product.  Thanks for reading.

  2. I think he has enough blue in him at this stage and the gold, to me, suits his magpie image of collecting shiny things.

    • Cool. I showed him to a couple of mates and they said to wash the gold with sepia.

    • Cheers. Home stretch now. Just have to highlight a few models and drybrush the bases and board.
