Inquistion- Inquisitor Greyfax

Now that I have some Mechanicus units painted for Inner Circle it’s time to focus on the characters.  For me it was a no brainer to paint up a scene from Fall of Cadia.  I bought the Triumvirate of the Imperium and Adeptus Mechanicus models.  I have loads of Sisters I can throw in to the mix as well.  My display will not work if the Triumvirate is not complete though.  I decided to start with the appetizer- Inquisitor Greyfax.

Greyfax WIP 1

Most of the time I deviate from the studio choices for colours.  This is one of those times I chose to follow the studio.  I liked how the model turned out for the studio so I figured why not.

I primed the model with black and then sprayed it with Leadbelcher and washed with Nuln Oil.  The gold is based with Retributor Armour  then a layer of Burnished Gold with a wash of Agrax Earthshade.  The red is Scab Red with a wash of Agrax Earthshade.  The loincloth is Rakarth Flesh and a wash of Agrax.

I haven’t worked on the skin yet because my paints have truly dried out.  My three flesh tones are the ancient hexagonal pots with black lids.  They dried out a long time ago but all I do is scoop a bit out, apply some water and I am able to coax it back into life.  It worked for the Storm Trooper Sergeant I painted a couple of weeks ago.  Well, not anymore.  I applied the water and the paint wasn’t having it.  Time to buy some new flesh tones.

Now some progression.  I highlighted the gold with Burnished Gold then Mithril Silver.

The red is highlighted with Scab Red, Red Gore, Blood Red and a final edge highlight of Squig Orange.  This is also my final hurrah with Scab Red.  My pot is empty and now I must buy the current equivalent of Khorne Red.

For the hair I based with Scorched Brown with Agrax Earthshade.  I highlighted with Bestial Brown and Snakebite Leather. All I have left is the skin and black highlights.

Thanks for reading.

  2. That is looking well, the cloak is sharp in the lines. Well played.
How many more units to go? Which one are you saving for last?

    • I’m posting in the order I’m painting the models. The saint and her bodyguards and Canoness Veryidan are next. I still have to start Cawl. I’m also working on a Jokaero, Astropath and Priest.
