There is six weeks left for Inner Circle and I am feeling the pinch. I had a lot of models to assemble and with that out-of-the-way it’s painting time. I’m going to be hard pressed to finish my list so some substitutes will have to happen. I have loads of completed Sisters to fill the gaps if necessary. They will have to be re-based but that’s the price I’ll have to pay for starting late.
Here’s my initial list with additions in italics:
- Belisarius Crawl
- Saint Celestine with Germinae
- Inquisitor Greyfax
- Trazyn the Infinite
- Kataphron Breachers x3
- Kataphron Destroyers x3
- Kastelen Robots with phosphor blasters x2
Kastelen Robots with power fists x2- Corpuscarii Electro-Priests x5
- Fulgurite Electro-Priests x5
- Sicarian Infiltrators x5
- Sicarian Ruststalkers x5
- Skitarii Vanguard x10
- Vostroyan Guardsmen x10
- Inquisition Storm Troopers x
105
- Sisters of Battle x10
- Canoness Veridyan
The Kastelen Robots will take too long to paint so I scratched out one unit. I looked at Codex Imperial Agents and saw that I can get away with reducing my Storm Troopers to a unit of 5. That unit is almost complete as well. All I have to do is paint the power sword and do the basing.
When I pulled my Triumverate of the Imperium box out I had Canoness Veridyan sitting on top. She seemed like a reasonable substitute for the Kastelen Robots. This also brings my Sisters count up as well.
I’ve had these Storm Troopers in my collection for years. They’ve been sitting primed ready for some love. My plan all these years was to paint them up with navy blue army and a cream cloth. I decided to go with the traditional Inqusition colours with black armour and red cloth. I don’t have much red in my armies so why not change it up a bit.
Whoa, wait a minute. Is that a painted model in that picture? I used a Kastelen Robot as a template for the army colours. During the time I assembled the models Edmonton was experiencing -30 degrees Celsius weather. A few days later it warmed up dramatically but not enough to break the freezing mark. My plan is to use Leadbelcher spray on most of the models, however, I want to spray them with black primer first. With below zero weather I didn’t want to push my luck using two sprays therefore I picked the Robots as my test subjects.
I sprayed two outside when the weather was close to 0 degrees and then stuck them in the bathroom with the fan on to air them out. That painted model you see is very much a WIP and I had problems with the colour combination. Needless to say there are some changes from what you see above. I’ll share more with a Robot WIP post.
I do have three Kataphron Destroyers near to completion. Once I got my colours worked out I wanted a break from the Robots. I’ll be posting those pictures in another WIP post.
What’s missing are the Vostroyans and Trazyn the Infinite. I have Vostroyans packed away in a box. I am leaning towards a Platoon Command Squad therefore reducing my model count from 10 to 5. For Trazyn the Infinite I am pleased to say I have one in the mail. I won an Ebay auction and it is in the mail as I type. It should be still in its original clampack ready for me to clean and assemble. Fingers crossed it arrives and fingers crossed the quality of the finecast is acceptable.
There will be a flurry of WIP posts over the next six weeks. As always feedback is appreciated. There’s a trip at Dallas at stake here so constructive criticism will be received.
Thanks for reading.
*Squeal* Mechanicus and Skiitari!? Oh yeah baby…..gimme that eye candy! While the colors are WIP, I am excited to see how this plays out…..especially with those robot brethren….I need inspiration for an ADMech army (we spoke on it breifly before).

I wanted to use Averland and Thunderhawk but the combination of the two don’t work. I had a hobby painting night with a couple of friends. I pulled the Robot out and said I was satisfied. I was told to get rid of Thunderhawk and go with black with green highlights. I tried it out and became a fan.

Man, just get the basecoats and washes done and you can pick up highlights etc at a later date? At least just get them table-top ready, but tidy. It’ll still look great!

I’d love to but that will be points left behind. The more in depth the painting the more points that are awarded. Gunning for top in the store and then top five for all store finalists. Top five get an all expense paid trip to Dallas.
