Age of Sigmar- Sylvaneth Wyldwood

I was intending to publish the Spirit of Durthu today, however, my Sylvaneth are on display and I forgot to take pictures of the model prior.  Durthu kind of kind lost in the shuffle when I was rotating models through the light box.  I will be picking my Sylvaneth up on Thursday for Wargasm so I will take some pictures this week.  Instead I will showcase the Sylvaneth Wyldwood I painted up for Armies on Parade.

I have a story to share about these trees.  I primed them at the beginning of October and left them in a box on top of the shed to air out.  Edmonton was hit with a surprise snowfall and I completely forgot about them  for three days.  I walked into the backyard and didn’t see the box on the shed.  It slid off due to the snow and the tree’s were spilled onto the deck.  The remarkable thing is one tree stayed intact, one was missing a couple of leaves and the third had a branch snap off as well as missing a couple of leaves.  Considering the fall was six feet it could have been worse.  Shame on me.

I primed the trees and base with Army Painter Leather Brown.  I then followed the same painting process for the trees that I used on the Dryads and Treelord.  For the leaves I based them with Screamer Pink and applied Druchii Violet shade.  I left most of the leaves as is, however, I touched some up with Screamer Pink and Genestealer Purple.  For the final step I drybrushed Changeling Pink over the leaves.  This helps tie in the Wyldwood to my Sylvaneth.

The base needed some pizzazz so I used flock, as you can see, on most of it.  Since my Sylvaneth bases are full of life I wanted the Wyldwood to have a similar feel.  I was initially on the fence for adding blossom tufts but as you can see I chose to add them.  My plan was to include this with my Sylvaneth for Armies on Parade and I knew the blossom tufts would help my cause.  Sure, the tufts will get destroyed in the future but it was worth it for Armies on Parade.

    • Thank you. Perhaps I will call them the Pit of Despair (miracle trees… Miracle Max… Princess Bride…see where I’m going?).

    • Thanks. I was aiming for the woods to compliment the trees since my Sylvaneth will be hiding out in them a lot.

  4. Nice! The woods look awesome with your models. The pink leaves are fun without being over the top

    • Thanks. One of GW books had a tutorial on painting their pink trees. I didn’t want to go with the white bark. It seemed too extreme. I also avoided the Khorne Red. All in all I am pleased with the result.
