Cities of Death- Completed Sanctum Imperialis

Here is the completed Sanctum Imperialis project.  The nice thing with terrain is it doesn’t take too long to complete.  Drybrushing speeds the time tremendously.  I paid some attention to detail and added highlights but nothing as detailed as my toy soldiers.

This was a good break from grey and power armour.  It’s nice to play games at home now.  James and I have played a few lately and there are two things that I have learned.  I have to assemble more building because we have to place a lot of fortifications to fill the table.  The second is the game is more enjoyable with painted terrain so I will be focusing my attention on buildings more now.

Bear with me and the photography.  I’m using my wife’s phone camera and editing software.  I am hiking up a learning curve at the moment.

The next building project will be a Manufactorum.

  1. Really nice finish, there’s nothing like spending enormous amounts of time on terrain (it gets overlooked more often than not). And as you have achieved here, well based, and well finished surfaces (the Golden door for one!) give it a great presence.
PS: the photos are great, nice lighting and contrast is good.

  2. Cheers. A little bit more effort can go a long ways. I have a lot of gold so I’ll be finding a lot more reasons to use it up. When GW was changing the paint line I stocked up on Burnished Gold. It is the main colour for my Sisters and Grey Knights. I also have Vostroyans and was planning on giving them gold armour too. With most of the Sisters and half of the Grey Knights painted up it is evident I have excess paint. I’m thinking of getting the Vostroyans painted by a third party because I have far too many projects on the go.

    • A sale on Army Painter primer determined the fate of my buildings.

  4. Looking nice man, a little bit too clean for my tastes but if the rest of the terrain looks anything like it then it will be a beautiful table to play on.

    • Yeah, I know a battle worn building would be more appropriate. the problem is I have some Jokaero’s that keep scrubbing the buildings clean every night. No one is paying them too. It must be a matter of pride I guess.
